This summer’s Tasman Premier League gets underway this Saturday with the Marlborough Labour Hire Falcons hosting Wakatu at Horton Park while the Dolphins travel to Nelson to play WTTU. In other games defending champions ACOB travel to Stoke Nayland while Wanderers play Nelson College.

The Marlborough Senior Rep team has its first outing this Sunday at Horton Park with Nelson the visitors. Marlborough defends the Newman Shield which they regained in March by defeating Nelson. The game is on the main ground and starts at 11am.

Friday’s extreme rain event resulted in the cancellation of Saturday’s Senior grade one day final which has been re-scheduled to the reserve day of Sunday 14th November.

Congratulations to Renwick who took part in the recently completed South Island Masters games held across Marlborough winning all 4 of their games to take out the Gold medals.

All junior grade re-start this weekend with a large increase in registrations for our WK 5th Grade on Friday evenings which now includes a separate girls only section as we continue to develop a girls only pathway. We also have a girls side taking part in the Saturday morning 4th grade competition. Harcourts Kiwi Cricket for younger players also starts this weekend played on Saturday morning at Lansdowne Park. To register or to find out more about any of our cricket playing or coaching programmes please email eden@marlboroughcricket.co.nz or call the office on 5779050.

Registrations are now open for our start of season Women’s Social Cricket festival day taking place at Horton Park on Sunday 14th November. This has proved to be a hugely popular event with teams taking part from club sides and local businesses. Games are played with a softer ball so no need for pads, or helmets and no prior experience required. We will teach you the basic rules and all equipment is provided. Following the festival day our mid-week women’s social cricket competition will commence each Wednesday evening. Both events are social in nature but still with an element of competition and opportunity afterwards for some food and drink and social chat. If you have ever wanted to give cricket a try in a supportive and social environment then this is for you! Contact Eden as above to register or for more information.

Please note that all our competitions and programmes are being run under level 2 playing guidelines and we ask that all participants and parents follow the rules and use common sense to avoid any potential community transmission. Please stay safe and remember that we are fortunate to be able to play community sport at this time and we should do everything we can to ensure this continues to be the case.
