Tasman Premier League semi-final aspirations for our two local sides were ended by heavy defeats in Nelson last Saturday. At Jubilee Park Falcons were dismissed for 104, Joel Lavender top scoring with 35 before WTTU knocked the runs off for the loss of only 3 wickets, Luke Pannell taking 2-34. Dolphins meanwhile suffered an even heavier 8 wicket defeat to Stoke Nayland after being bowled out for only 61. With one round remaining the 4 semi-finalists are now confirmed as Wolves, ACOB, Stoke and WTTU. This Saturday Dolphins take on Wakatu in Nelson while Falcons host Stoke at Horton Park.

In SBS Bank 2nd grade action Renwick maintained their 100% winning record with a tense 1 wicket win over Valley Yellow. Kurtis Pincott took 3-22, while Dane Winstanley’s 3-26 included a rare hat-trick. Carly Englefield was left on 33no as Yellow were dismissed for 130. Ed Gilhooly anchored the Renwick run chase with an unbeaten 26, Nathan Glue taking 3-20. Wairau were the other winners by 37 runs over Valley Blue. For Wairau Tom Heagney made 32, Josh Harris took 3-20, while Lachie Brick scored 36 and took 3- 40. For Blue Bhawish Rathore top scored with 50 from 55 balls.

In 3rd Grade Wairau Valley were well beaten by Celtic, dismissed for only 45 in pursuit of Celtic’s 155. For Celtic Dave Kennedy made 40, Maui de Wildt 36 and 3-8, Connor Davies 4-14. For Valley Flynn Preece and Harry Nailer each took 3-23. In the other 3rd grade game Renwick defaulted to Wairau.

Top performers in the latest round of WK 4th grade games included; Corban McLennan (38), Archie Laugesen (34 & 4-9), Charlie Clarke (5-19), Christian Morton (30), Ned Bell (3-2). Two of Saturday’s fixtures were rescheduled to Wednesday night due to a sporting clash.

Congratulations also to Luke Holdaway who scored a fine century for MBC 1st XI in their win over UCVC at the Black Cottage ground last Sunday.

This Friday sees the start of Senior Grade T20 competition contested by Celtic, Renwick, Wairau and Wairau Valley. 2nd grade T20 starts on Thursday evenings and once again has two divisions with section A contested by Celtic, Renwick, Wairau, UCVC, Valley Yellow and Valley Blue. Section B has Celtic, Wairau Awatere, Wairau Warriors, Renwick Roughies and Renwick Masters.

This Sunday the PaknSave Marlborough Women’s side host Nelson at Horton Park for two T20 fixtures while our boys year 9/10 development side also host Nelson at Horton Park. Our boys year 11/12 side travel over the hill to take on Nelson in the 1st round of the Central Districts Year 12 tournament.
