The Ultraquip Marlborough Men’s team fell to a 1st innings defeat to Nelson in their 1st round Hawke Cup elimination game last weekend. Having racked up 415 from 114 overs on the 1st day Nelson dismissed Marlborough for 135 and had them 107 for 6 (Luke Holdaway 43no) in the 2nd innings before a draw was agreed. Aidan Conroy top scored with 43 in the first.

In Levin the Year 11-12 Boys team won 2 of their games including a 7 run victory over Taranaki thanks to 77 from Josh Harris and 4-17 from Dane Winstanley, while Ollie Eyles made a fine 54 in the loss to  Manawatu. In Whanganui the Year 11-13 Girls faced some strong opposition failing to win a game but some good performances included Tyler O’Donnell (3-38) and Izzy Vickery (4-15).

Marlborough’s Luke Holdaway represented Central Districts Under 19s at the National Tournament in Lincoln this month preforming well including best bowling figures of 5-46 against Auckland. Congratulations also to Eva Davey who has made selection for the CD U19 Women’s side for next month’s National Tournament in Lincoln.

In latest round of SBS Bank 2nd Grade 40 over games Luke Petrie took 3-28 and Fionn Heagney made 51 in Wairau’s win over Renwick for whom Kurtis Pincott took 3-12. In Section A T20 games Yadwinder Hundal (33 & 3-18) and Matthew Coxan (3-16) were match winners for Valley Blue over Valley Yellow, while Duncan Grigg (3-11), Paul Hickman (41) and Bryn Cotching (38) were the match winners for UCVC in their win over Renwick (Mark Zillwood – 43). In Section B the main performers were William Milton (34), Joe Cooke (3-8), Mickael Gibb (3-12), Blair Bavin (33), Tim Warner (33), and Tony Alexander (38).

In 3rd grade T20 games Joseph Gilhooly was the match winner for Wairau Valley with an unbeaten 56 chasing down Wairau’s 97 all out for a 3 wicket win. Celtic were the other winners by 5 wickets over Renwick thanks to 42 from Pete Trevathan.

Top performers in the latest round of WK 4th grade games included; Madison Morton (4-22), Denver Hart (3-13), Eddie Taylor (35 & 5-9), Zavier Hughes (4-19), Freddie Heagney (42) and Jock Murphy (3-1).

This weekend the Ultraquip Marlborough Men’s team head over to Palmerston North for the Central Districts Chapple Cup tournament while the combined Marlborough-Nelson Women’s side, now named Te Tauihu o te Waka, head to Whanganui for the Shrimpton Trophy weekend tournament.
