Our WK 4th and 5th grade competitions continue to show some outstanding performances every week. Among those making an impact last week in 4th grade were: Dane Winstanley (30), Blake Nation (31), Anton Jossy (38), Charlie Robinson (33), Dan du Plessis (58), Tessa Zillwood (17), Lukas Dowling (2-8), Will Turner (50), Liam Cohen (29), and in 5th grade, Charlie Clark (16 & 2-1), Tom Dunne (3-11), George Wilson (20), George Gale (2-8), Jackson Boon (23) and Jean-Paul Du Preez (3-20).

In 3rd grade Wairau Valley’s Lachlan MacNeill hit 53 and took 6-12 in his teams comfortable win over Renwick. He was well supported by Louis Girling (52) and Caleb Speedy (43) while Greg Winstanley took 5-29 for Renwick. Celtic were comfortable winners in the other game with a century to Luke Holdaway supported by Couper Robinson (36) and John Clark (37). Luke Petrie took 4-29 for Wairau. Ben Armstrong scored a fine 83 in Wairau’s reply while Fergus Dodson took 4-12.

The 2nd grade T20 competition got underway with games last Thursday evening. Celtic Gold had a 41 run win over new team Marlborough Public House Masters. Cam Harris (38) and Gurpreet Singh (35) were the main scorers for Celtic with Fergus Dodson taking 3-12 while Anthony Ross picked up 3 wickets for the Masters. The competitions other new team Wairau Awatere were well beaten by Renwick with Luke Frankland (99no) and Kirk Nicholas (81no) putting on 188 for the 2nd wicket and Mike Anstis taking 3-4 in the Awatere reply. UCVC had to work harder for a 24 run win over Wairau Valley with Damian Sexton picking up 3 wickets and Sukh Aulakh hitting 33. Matt Duggan was the UCVC match winner top scoring with 22 and then taking 4-21. Celtic Green were the other winners thanks to 61 from Jaden Adams and 52 from Liam Young who also picked up 2-11.

JT Contracting Falcons picked up another convincing TPL win thanks to a brilliant innings from Matthew Stretch of 142 from 109 balls, well supported by Tarin Mason (75) in a 5th wicket partnership of 225. The Dolphins however fell to a 6 wicket defeat to Wanderers. ACOB lead the table on 14 points with 3 wins from 3 with Falcons currently in 4th place on 9 points and Dolphins 6th on 5 points. Both teams play in Nelson this weekend.

This Friday sees the start of the Senior grade T20 competition with games at Horton Park from 5.15pm while on Sunday the Marlborough Senior reps take on Buller in Westport for the Scanlon / Stretch challenge trophy and the U17s take on Nelson at Saxton Oval in a CD tournament 1st round nearest neighbour game.
