In the latest round of SBS Bank Senior grade T20 games Renwick picked up their first win of the season with an 8 wicket win over Wairau Valley. Sam Boyce (41) and Greg Stretch (32) were the mainstays of Valley’s 148 batting first with Joe Timms taking 5-22. In reply Kirk Nicholas (55) and Corey Bovey (64no) guided Renwick home while Timms completed a fine all round game making 29 from 16 balls. Renwick could not back this up in Friday night’s game against Celtic, bowled out for 116 with Ben Blackman taking 3-25. Greg Knowles then smashed 77 from 29 balls in a 9 wicket win that keeps Celtic in contention for a finals place. Results from the other two games had not been received at time of writing.
In 2nd grade T20 games Renwick scored a crucial win over UCVC to remain an outside chance of making the final scheduled for Thursday 9th Feb. Duncan Grigg top scored with 46 in UCVC’s 130 for 6 which Renwick reached comfortably in the 13th over, Kirk Nicholas top scoring with 66 from 39 balls. In division 2 Renwick Rugby Club continues to lead the way following a 10 wicket win over the Renwick veterans. Jayden Lister and Daniel Jones both made unbeaten 50s for the Rugby boys while Ryan Holdaway took 2-11 in restricting the Veterans to 121, Kel Ritchie top scoring with 35.
Renwick and Wairau picked up wins in the latest round of 3rd grade T20 games, Kurtis Pincott top scoring with 35 in Renwick’s total of 120 (Rana Stevens 3-11). Celtic fell 20 short despite 40 from John Diamanti while Pincott took 3-15. Sinclair Hill struck 94 from 61 balls in Wairau’s 184 for 5 (Spencer Grigg 3-21). Wairau Valley fell well short in reply on 133, Teagen Birkett taking 2-5.

The PaknSave Marlborough Women’s team has an inter-quad game this Sunday at Horton Park starting at 11am as they prepare for their next rep game against Nelson next month.
Also coming up on 18th February is a new event taking place at the Queen Charlotte Tavern in Linkwater, The Great Marlborough Backyard Cricket Championship. Aimed at social teams this promises to be a fun day out. Teams are 6-a-side and games played with a soft ball with all equipment provided.
