Renwick will take on Celtic in this Saturday’s final of the SBS Bank 2nd grade 40 over competition following convincing wins over the weekend. Andrew Marshall (58) and Mark Zillwood (45no) were the mainstays of Renwick’s 192 for 9 (James Bell 4-26, Eden Pettigrew 3-41) which proved 81 runs too many for Valley Yellow. Josh Alexander top scored with 39 in Wairau’s below par 110 with Kayse Holdaway taking 3-24. Andy Fitzpatrick made 37 as Wairua reached the target 6 wickets down, Josh Alexander taking 3-12 to complete a useful double in a losing cause.

In the latest round of Town v Country Senior grade games Town gained revenge for their previous round loss with a 5 wicket win over Country thanks to 3-15 for Baxter Croad and 47no from Joel Lavender, plus 46 from Zariab Karkaria.

Runs were hard to come by as the senior grade T20 competition resumed on Friday night with low scoring run chase wins for Renwick and Celtic. Top performers included Piers Landon-Lane (34no), Griffin Carter (48), Jaden Adams (3-15), Liam Young (3-16), Greg Knowles (46no) and Aidan Conroy (36no).

In 2nd grade T20 games there were strong performances from Tom Sloan (78), Ben Holdaway (53), Tom Sutherland (37), Patrick Moran (38), Wayne Young (3-6), Bhawish Rathore (44), Jassi Brar (38), Joe Cooke (51), Adam White (85no), Luke O’Hagan (77), Brogan Matthews (2-7), Liam Kydd (31no), Eva Davey (3-27), Ben Hunter (31), Paul Alexander (73), and Jason Kennedy (3-9). In 3rd grade there were good contributions from Nathan Glue (103), Lachie Brick (30no), Harry Nailer (31 & 4-22), Daniel Baker (3-19), Fionn Heagney (72), and Kurtis Pincott (4-49).

Leading performers in the latest round of WK 4th grade games included Archie Laugesen (3-7), Max Campbell (37no), Reon Holdaway (69), Ryan Batty (3-15), Jock Murphy (4-13), Freddie Heagney (52), Edward Taylor (36), Josh Abrahams (41), Mitchell Nicholas (29), Chase O-Hagan (29), Joseph Gilhooly (45), Jaden Buckley (32), Archer May (2-13) and Corban McLennan (2-17).

This Saturday the Ultraquip Marlborough Men’s team takes on Nelson at Horton Park in round 2 of the Hawke Cup Zone 3 elimination series with play starting both days at 10.30am. Marlborough made a winning start with an outright win over Buller in round 1, while Nelson lost out on 1st innings to Canterbury Country.
