In the latest round of SBS Bank 2nd Grade 40 over games Wairau Valley Yellow beat stablemates Valley Blue thanks largely to a fine century from Sukh Aulakh. His 100 from 79 balls helped WV Yellow to 214 and a 61 run win with Baldev Gill also enjoying a good day out with 35 and 5-21. Jassi Brar top scored for Blue with 39. Celtic Green were the other winners over Wairau, Greg Knowles making a useful 26 for Celtic while Aidan Lavender top scored with 36 for Wairau.

In 3rd grade games Fionn and Tom Heagney both made fifties as Wairau overhauled Renwick’s competitive total of 165. Lachie Cooney top scored with 59 in Renwick’s innings while Harry McKendry had the outstanding figures of 6-22 from 7 overs. No scores were available from the Celtic v Wairau Valley game at time of writing.

Unfortunately the wet weather Saturday morning forced the cancellation of all WK 4th grade games with these being re-scheduled for this Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. 5th grade games were played on Friday evening in better weather with top performers including Rueben Underwood (2-4), Manawa Doonan (23), Harry Lucas (3-14), Zavier Hughes (32), Ollie Shannon (20), Alex Bishell (2-12), Edward Taylor (26), Joshua Gleeson (34 & 3-15), Sam Murphy (2-18), Duncan Linklater (19), and Patrick Milton (3-17).

This weekend sees the return of the Town v Country challenge games with English Rules style red ball cricket format being used ahead of the first round Hawke Cup game v Buller the following weekend. Then on Sunday our Year 11-12 Boys take on Nelson at Horton Park starting at 10.30am. This game doubles up as the first round of the Central Districts Year 11-12 tournament which takes place from 10th to 12th December in Napier.
