Falcons enjoyed a 5 wicket win over Wakatu in round 2 of the Tasman Premier League played at Horton Park last weekend. Tight bowling restricted Wakatu to 156 all out from 48.1 overs with Matthew Stretch taking 3-23 from 8 overs and Will Anderson 2-19 from 6 overs while Griffin Carter, James Bell, Joel Lavender and Sam Boyce all chipped in with a wicket apiece. In reply Josh Alexander made a controlled 45no from 58 balls sharing a match winning partnership of 63 with Griffin Carter who made 37 from 25 balls to ensure a bonus point win.

Dolphins lost by 35 runs to Nelson College following a batting collapse that saw their last 6 wickets fall for just 7 runs. College recovered from 69 for 5 to post a target of 212 with Jaden Adams and Josh Poole picking up two wickets each. Aidan Conroy (41), Josh Poole (43) and Max Armstrong (36) put Dolphins in a strong position at 170 for 4 before the dramatic collapse, George Aerakis taking 5-42.

ShivamKumar Yadav smashed 84 from 46 balls for Wairau Valley Blue in their win over Wairau as SBS Bank 2nd Grade season got underway. Jassi Brar (37) and Matthew Coxall (32no) helped push the Valley total to 218, Niko Russell (3-27), Tom Heagney (2-16) and Luke Petrie (2-35) bowling well for Wairau. In reply Fergus Dodson (31) and Josh Harris (40) gave Wairau hope but Coxall completed a good all round game with 4-36 to help dismiss them 19 runs short. Renwick were the other 2nd grade winners over Valley Yellow with scores not available at time of writing.

The SBS Bank 3rd Grade competition gets underway this weekend alongside 2nd grade round 2 games. In TPL games Falcons travel to Nelson to take on top of the table ACOB while Dolphins host WTTU at Horton Park.

There is also still time to register to play in our Junior grades this summer, starting over 1st week of November. Smash Play is the programme for our younger players, typically 5-7 year olds, while Kiwi Cricket and Girls Smash games are played on Saturday mornings at Lansdowne Park and typically for 7-10 year olds.
