The 2022-23 summer of Cricket is now underway with registrations open for all grades and programmes. For our youngest players there is our new Smash Play programme this summer and you can register for the centre that suits you best – Horton Park, Renwick, Seddon or Picton. Harcourts Kiwi Cricket is the next stage played with a soft ball at Lansdowne Park on Saturday mornings with separate boys and girls sections. Register for these programmes through the “register now” link on our website home page. For WK 5th and 4th Hardball grades you register through one of our clubs via the registration tab on our website.

All junior grades and programmes commence over the first weekend of November with clubs currently organising players into teams so please get your registration in asap. Contact your club representative or Eden@marlboroughcricket.co.nz if you have any questions or have trouble registering.

The PAK’nSave Marlborough Women’s team had a narrow 3 wicket loss to Nelson last Sunday cheered on by a good crowd of supporters in a closely fought encounter. Amber Boyce (39) and Carley Englefield (25) were the main contributors in Marlborough’s 100 all out batting first. At 61 for 5 in Nelson’s reply the game was in the balance before Anna Gaging (29no) guided the visitors to the win. Maddie Winstanley (2-21 from 6 overs) was the pick of the home bowlers.

In SBS Bank Senior grade 40 over competition games Celtic made it 2 wins from 2 with Josh Poole (108no) following up his unbeaten 76 from the previous week by hitting the first century of the season to guide his team to a 2 wicket win over Wairau Valley. Paddy Wilkins top scored for Valley with 59 from 54 balls while Jaden Adams took 3-41 for Celtic. In the day’s ot2022/21 Season her game Renwick collapsed from 77 for 2 to 109 all out chasing Wairau’s 142. Corey Bovey top scored with 35 while Nick Weaver took 4-13 for Wairau. Opener Jonathan Mackay top scored in Wairau’s innings with 34 while Mike Anstis and Piers Landon-Lane picked up 3 wickets apiece. This Saturday Renwick take on Wairau Valley while front runners Celtic play Wairau, both games starting at 12pm at Horton Park.
